MISSISSAUGA, ON – The Avnet Electronics Marketing operating group of Avnet, Inc. and Xilinx, Inc. presented X-fest, a series of technical seminars offering practical, how-to training for FPGA, DSP and embedded systems designers at the Mississauga Convention Centre last month.

The series, which stop in Vancouver on November 18 (register at www.weboom.com/avnet/reg_americas.html), is part of a 37-city global tour through February 2010 in locations throughout Asia, Europe, Japan and North America.

To date, nearly 4200 people have registered to attend X-fest worldwide. These one-day seminars offer several 75-minute training courses for attendees to choose from, designed to provide specialized training on design solutions for FPGA circuitry and the components surrounding FPGAs. Attendees also have access to design solutions from sponsors including Cypress Semiconductor, Emerson Network Power, Intel, Maxim Integrated Products, Molex, National Semiconductor, Numonyx, NXP Semiconductors, Texas Instruments (TI), and Tyco Electronics. Xilinx showcased multiple demonstrations and development platforms, including interfacing DDR3 and LPDRAM with the Xilinx Spartan-6 hard memory controller, interfacing to an analog world, and designing products for the human experience.

Avnet also demonstrated its line of board-level development systems in the table top trade show segment of X-fest. According to Jim Beneke, vice president Global Technical Marketing of Avnet Electronics Marketing, “these systems were created with components and technical partnerships from many of the X-fest sponsors.”

Attendees left X-fest armed with the tools and practical knowledge necessary to tackle system level design for new and existing design challenges for embedded processing, DSP, power supplies, memory interfaces and analog front ends.
