CABLE COMPANY CRAFTS COMMUNITY CONNECTIONS PDF Print E-mail
CALGARY - Alberta Computer Cable (ACC), manufacturer of custom cable and other connectivity products, was recently honored for making connections of a different kind.
ACC was recognized with the Volunteer Calgary Leaders in Business Award and was accepted as a partner within Alberta’s Promise - a movement established through an act of the Alberta legislature to foster partnerships that strive to improve the environment for children.
"It’s truly an honour to be recognized because that’s a sign we’re making an impact in our own small way," said Louise Nesterenko, ACC vice-president. "We recognize how many people need help and we just view it as our responsibility to reach out and provide some assistance."
ACC says it has created a culture of caring that starts with Nesterenko as the lead organizer and includes 100 per cent of its staff, as well as many of ACC’s suppliers and customers, in year-round grassroots fundraising initiatives, from used book sales and silent auctions, to barbecues and bake sales. Hundreds of additional volunteer hours each year benefit the Between Friends Club for youth with disabilities. ACC has raised over $200,000 for the Between Friends Club over the last 10 years.
To recognize and thank ACC employees, suppliers and customers for their contributions, as well as to share the story of the company’s unique commitment to community, ACC recently published a Report to Community, which can be viewed at www.cablesbyacc.com (click on Community button).
ACC specializes in connectivity solutions. The company makes electronic cables and wiring harnesses for high-tech applications and customer-specific requirements.
