MARKHAM, Ont. - The Canadian Electronic Representative Association (CERA) has presented Jay MacArthur with a life membership.
According to the association, MacArthur was instrumental in working with representative companies in Canada during the forming of the Canadian chapter known as the Canadian Electronic Representative Association (CERA). MacArthur worked with Bob Gidden of Birde Marketing to establish the association and was its president from 1986 until 1990. He remained with the association as a director and executive director until 2001.
 MacArthur has been involved in the electronics industry since his graduation from Toronto’s Ryerson Polytechnical Institute (now University) in 1956. He was first employed with an early semiconductor product design team at Sonograph Engineering, then spent 11 years with Transitron Corp. - five years as area sales manager for Canada and five years as area manager for the mid-west U.S. and Canada.
MacArthur then took the position of manager of Fairchild Semiconductor Canada. After six years with Fairchild, he secured the Fairchild line which allowed MacArthur and his three founding partners to establish r.n. Longman Sales where he remained until retiring in 1999.
MacArthur has continued as an ISO consultant, time management consultant, and chairperson of a post secondary foundation.
