SAMSUNG ADOPTS ATSANA'S PROCESSOR FOR FEATURE PHONE |

OTTAWA ? Atsana Corp., developer of power-efficient, programmable multimedia processors for mobile devices, announced that Samsung Electronics, manufacturer of the industry leading brand of mobile phones, has selected Atsana?s J2211 media processor for its 2 Mpixel SCH-M309 camera phone.
 Samsung?s recent launch in China of the M series camera phones, including the SCH-M309 model, represents a leap in functionality and performance, with professional camera features such as 2 Mpixel DSC, MPEG4 video camcorder and player, auto-focus and TV-out.
The SCH-M309 with Atsana?s J2211 media processor offers a host of advanced camera features including high quality 2 Mpixel JPEG image capture, QVGA MPEG4 video record and playback, special effects, auto-focus, digital zoom, and TV-out. Images and video can be stored directly to either the phone?s internal memory or onto a removable Trans Flash memory card.
?By offloading demanding media processing tasks from the baseband processor, the SCH-M309 is optimized for battery life and performance,? said Alex Leupp, president and CEO at Atsana.
?Samsung wants flexible solutions that are affordable and reduce time to market. The J2211 not only meets this requirement for Samsung, but raises the bar for multimedia quality and performance in camera phones at large.?
The SCH-M309 phone has been introduced this month in China.
Atsana develops fully programmable, low-power consumption multimedia processors and application solutions for wireless devices such as handsets, personal digital assistants (PDAs), and network cameras. The semiconductor company?s array processing technology enables the creation of multimedia wireless devices that consume two to three times less power than solutions offered today. In addition, Atsana?s processor enables better quality video encoding, supports higher resolution, and is easily scalable and programmable to support a myriad of multimedia applications and standards.
